Overall Satisfaction with Marketo

We use Marketo to manage our email campaigns and some content programs. It is primarily used by the marketing department as well as business operations for management. It addresses our need for an email marketing platform as well as various content analytics and management use cases. It helps us create simple to complex email campaigns, anywhere from a single send to a full-on nurture program. It's a great software with in-depth ability to do these things.
  • Plenty of documentation available on the product to learn how to use it, from basic cases to more in depth ones.
  • It allows us to organize our programs in a structure that makes sense; the organization of folders is straightforward once you get the hang of it.
  • We are able to manage email campaigns and various other programs that can be simple or more complex, and we have the capability for both with Marketo.
  • It can take a while to get the hang of, as it's quite a complex platform at times. There are some small, finicky things that I've learned by trial and error.
  • The UI could be better. It feels a bit outdated, and while it's clear when an error appears in a program, it's not always clear what that error is or how to fix it.
  • This is more of a nitpicky one, but when I open the program again in a new tab and I already have it open in another, the other tab times out and I have to log in again, which disrupts my workflow. I get that it's likely a security feature, it's just annoying at times.

We use Marketo to manage communication with both existing customers as well as prospects. It works well for reaching out to groups of users and syncing this info to sales and outreach. It works well for our organization's goals as well as simply managing the tracking of our content and analytics.
Great from an email marketing standpoint to create campaigns for simple, one-time sends or more complex ones. I also love the integration with Salesforce, as it's helpful when creating content campaigns to track metrics and sync there as well, which is helpful for sales. I would say if your team is looking for a simple email management program only and nothing more complex than that, then this might not be the one. I do appreciate the analytics as well and the database features are very in depth to investigate any issues a specific contact may be having.
