Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Matillion as the main ETL tool for our Data warehouse. Our daily jobs extract and transform data from sources such as Dynamics CRM, several APIs, and tracking data from our websites.

In Matillion, we have optimized some jobs from running for 2 hours down to 2 minutes.

Usability

The ability to both do SQL "the old way", and the drag and drop which also can provide the SQL in the background, makes it a future-proof tool that has had a great impact on our team's workflows.

Time to Value

It took around an hour to have the first simple job up and running, querying data from a source and pushing it to a new table.

We use Matillion in a Snowflake environment. But we also get data from Azure, AWS, and a lot of other data sources. So we already use it in a kind of multi-cloud environment, which proves that it is future-proof, with a lot of scalability options.

Matillion was chosen by Schibsted due to the seamless integration with Snowflake. The ease of use and fast workflow have made it an essential tool in our setup, and with the option to integrate nearly every data source there is, plus the ease of use, it really gives a lot of bang for the buck.

Matillion provides a very intuitive way of handling all types of ETL processes. There are tons of built-in components for data sources, such as Google products, where Sheets is a great example that we use for manual data input. And with ease, you can set up API query/extract profiles to get data from all types of API.
