Overall Satisfaction with Memsource

I use Memsource to translate between Czech and English
  • very good machine translation
  • possibility to work both online and offline
  • easy to work with, easy editing
  • British English!!! Memsource knows what British spelling should be but MT offers US English and underlines the US spelling as wrong for British English.
  • MT does not use termbase. MT yellows the expression that is in the TB but does not offer it in the translation, instead makes up its own translation (typically abbreviation) instead of inserting the TB word
  • Localisation of numbers. On the continent we write the decimal coma but in English it is the decimal point. Can there be a button to convert such numbers easily?
  • cloud-based, easy to use
  • high quality machine translation
  • translation is faster so more work can be done
I used Trados offline. it was complicated, uneasy to set up, not intuitive, could not generate preview often, it marks errors where there are no errors, uneasy to search in older memory outside the current document, no MT offered.

Memsource is well suited for any translator as well as translation agency. You save all translated segments in a cloud - they cannot get stuck in your computer - you can instantly deliver without having to write an email, and you can search older translations for terminology very easily. Clear layout, easy to use. But when you try to use the trial version, you don't get the quality of MT as you get when it is paid for. So not good for one-off translations. Thank you for the product.
