Overall Satisfaction with Memsource

We use Memsource as a CAT tool to improve our localization workflow. We also have a lot of clients that use Memsource and it is really easy to receive projects from them by just sharing our vendor token with them. We then deliver the data within Memsource and no other data exchange is necessary. Memsource is also easy to understand for our translators, and the do not need to own a license themselves. This sometimes seems a big factor for translators to start using a CAT tool. Even though Memsource is a complete CAT tool, we do think there are still some things that can be improved. Features we would like to be added are the usage of REGEX in the web editor, and the option to add Memsource comments to the exported translated Word/Excel files.
  • Easy to use for translators
  • Easy to select TMs and TBs
  • Good interface to keep track of a project
  • Regex in web editor
  • Comments exported in final Word/Excel file
  • Better filtering/sorting of project list
  • Easy to understand for PMs
  • Cloud-based
  • Translators do not need to buy anything
  • Translators that had not used CAT tools before are now using it through Memsource
  • Easy to manage projects in the cloud
I have been using memoQ and SDL Trados Studio for a longer time, but the Web editor for Memsource is the easiest to use of all. I do like the functionality in memoQ better, but Memsource is easier for our translators.

Well suited: Recurring translation projects where using a TM will help lower the cost of translation. Less appropriate: Translation that do not require a 1:1 translation and more transcreation.
