Overall Satisfaction with MIP Fund Accounting

We currently use MIP Fund Accounting for Financial Reporting, Accounts Payable, EFT, Bank Reconciliation, Allocations, Budget, Encumbrances, and Electronic Requisitions. The program is primarily used by the Finance Department, however the Electronic Requisition module [is] used throughout the organization. Our agency receives a number of Federal, State, County, and Local grants and contracts. MIP allows us to track revenue and costs per fund and to easily allocate shared costs across multiple funds.
  • Overall, the program is easy to use and provides, reliability, flexibility, and scalability. In addition, Abila provides multiple support options.
  • The Allocation feature allows the user to easily spread shared costs like rent or utilities to all the programs that benefit from the cost.
  • The reporting module comes with many useful templates and is flexible for customizing a variety of reports.
  • We sometimes have issues with the Encumbrance module with the liquidation process in that it can be difficult to zero out the encumbrance.
  • We are having trouble with the auto notification feature in the Electronic Requisition module. We keep receiving an error and MIP support is yet to figure out a solution.
  • Old Program (fund) codes can be difficult to delete.
  • The program is reliable and easy to manage.
  • The program is able to integrate with third party solutions which streamlines processes.
  • The program is an excellent value for all of the functionality provided.

Abila provides great support with a courteous staff. They provide many options for support, but sometimes if you need immediate support you can end up waiting a long time on hold, or for an e-mail response.
MIP Fund Accounting is easy to use and it is scalable. MIP can accommodate many concurrent users across on the modules. It's a very mature product and is very reliable and if we do encounter a problem, which is rare the support is very good.
I was not with the organization when MIP Fund Accounting was selected. I have been very happy with the program so never felt the need to look for a replacement.
MIP Fund Accounting is well suited to incorporating a new fund into the organization. It is simple to add the general ledger codes needed, use the report templates, combine the fund with other funds as needed for organizational reporting. MIP Fund Accounting is less appropriate when trying to incorporate electronic signatures to an attached document in the Electronic Requisition module.
