Overall Satisfaction with Parallels Remote Application Server (Parallels RAS)

We exclusively use it to allow team members to use quickbooks from home. QB over vpn is not supported but using vpn to access RAS and QB as a published app is an extremely efficient way to manage QB deployment and updates and allows QB to run fast no matter what devices are accessing it.
  • Streamlines connectivity to published apps
  • Simple setup
  • Simple licensing
  • Integration with Okta for SSO
  • Wish it didn't require the use of Active Directory for certain features
  • Lower the minimum user count for licensing
  • Less expensive than Microsoft licesning
  • Simple deployment requiring less time from IT
  • No training required for new team members to start using. Just deploy RAS to their machine, add credentials, and start using remote software.
You do not need to be an expert in IT to configure, manage or train anyone to use RAS. Everything about deployment was simple and straightforward although I do wish the integration with okta and SAML was there and it didn't require the use of Active Directory for certain parts of the deployment. We eliminated AD and use Okta exclusively but without the integration we are forced to setup local users and use WORKGROUP on the server. Not terrible, just not as streamlined or secure.
Less than two hours. We have a one server deployment and only published one app. Less than 15 users and deployment on their devices was super simple.
We used Microsoft RemoteApp prior to this. RAS is simpler and less expensive. Seems to perform better as well.

Would you buy Parallels Remote Application Server (Parallels RAS) again?

Yes

Works perfect where you need multiple people to access software remotely and the software has a centralized database or file that is stored on the RAS server and vpn is not an option because of performance / reliability reasons. Also eliminates the need to install the same software on multiple user devices and have to deal with managing updates constantly.
