Overall Satisfaction with Paychex Flex

We have been using Paychex long before it was "Paychex Flex." Over the years, we have appreciated the partnership with our main AM; however, in recent years from my experience, the level of service has drastically decreased while the problems have increased. While at this point, there hasn't been a "deal breaker" for us to move away, I have started keeping a running list of items that are wrong, can't be fixed, etc. I can honestly say I would love to move away when we have a bit more bandwidth for such a project, and I would never recommend using Paychex. In my opinion, it is a dinosaur of a tool with an embarrassing user experience.
  • Payroll is processed
  • I can't think of things that I am impressed with
  • We've moved away from several of the services because of how bad they were
  • Regular login issues
  • Employees not being able to see pay stubs or tax documents
  • Employees who call for help and speak with an "agent" rarely have something resolved
  • Effective date within Paychex Flex doesn't work quite like you'd think. We've been told we need to modify our procedures so the system doesn't get confused.
  • Despite having COBRA services turned off for years now, the system still isn't turned off. Our AM isn't able to facilitate getting this corrected so we stop receiving notifications.
  • I do not believe we have saved anything additionally. The time we've had to spend to get things to hopefully work is sad. This is the reason we've had to turn off all extra "products" of Paychex Flex. Time and Attendance is horrible. Benefits management is horrible. The user experience is horrible.
  • One thing I do not understand is why are updates for states, cities, counties, school districts, etc. not automatically updated? Should we not get a big red flag if we have an employee living/working, being paid in CA, but they aren't set up for CA sick time? If it is required to be on the paycheck stub to show the balance of the sick time, why would we not be notified that we are out of compliance?
Half of the time, it seems we can't resolve the issue or get the go-around.
We have moved away from our benefits administration, onboarding, time and attendance, and basically all non-payroll functionality away from Paychex Flex.

Do you think Paychex Flex delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Paychex Flex's feature set?

No

Did Paychex Flex live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of Paychex Flex go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Paychex Flex again?

No

Again, we are able to process payroll. There are still features within payroll that are cumbersome. But to answer the question, the overall usability is very much lacking. It is a direct reflection on us when an employee has an issue with Paychex.
