Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity

We currently us Paylocity for onboarding, HR, Time and attendance, and Payroll. Overall we like the product, but as our company is growing we are outgrowing the system. The more FEIN's we add the harder it is to get set up and process. We also struggle with shift differentials and the set up/complexity of those.
  • System is easy to navigate
  • We don't typically have issues with tax filings, amendments, etc.
  • Being able to request a new rep if yours is not working out well
  • Some reps are awful. They throw incomplete instructions at you on how to fix something in the system with no additional guidance.
  • Shift differentials are hard to understand and equally as hard to set up.
  • Acquisitions of a new company usually have a fairly quick turnaround and Paylocity will tell you 4-6 weeks to get up and running.
  • Reporting is difficult
  • Sometimes we update one thing and something else "breaks" or doesn't work appropriately any more
Would be nice if you didn't have to pull a time file from web time to web pay to get it into the payroll batch. We have to audit both reports to make sure that they balance, and sometimes they don't. It would be nice if that were more automatic and there was no balancing involved - meaning that the file from web time would always match what is in payroll without any issues.
Our sales and customer service departments use Community the most but it is not something that we talk about to the company. Same with impressions, surveys and premium video. These are not something we use a lot at all.
When I started at this company they were using Paylocity. I do love Paylocity for a small simple company, maybe 1-2 FEIN's. The larger the company is, or the more FEIN's you process for, the more complicated it becomes to process in Paylocity. As we continue to grow and become more complex, we will more than likely be implementing a new HRIS system in the near future.

Do you think Paylocity delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Paylocity's feature set?

Yes

Did Paylocity live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of Paylocity go as expected?

No

Would you buy Paylocity again?

No

We have had multiple issues with past reps who will just throw information at you and expect that you can configure the system to your needs. We did ask for a new rep recently and she has been amazing. She takes ownership of any updates/changes in the system we need and will get those fixed/added for us.

Tax filings are done on time and I don't worry about non compliance in that area.

Sometimes I wish Paylocity wouldn't have us reinvent the wheel. There was a new paid time off requirement in one state and I was hoping it was something that we could have turned on. I ended up having to complete a form to have a new PTO type set up and configured.
