Overall Satisfaction with Planview AdaptiveWork

I use AdaptiveWork for project planning and tracking. Features that I use most are timeline estimation and resources allocation. The actual work vs. estimated work functions help me adjust timelines when needed and improve panning for future projects. I am also able to look at my groups actual work performed vs. time that is allocated to current project to plan resource usage.

Pros

  • Estimate realistic timelines
  • Properly allocate the available resources
  • Break down projects into manageable tasks
  • Track actual time spent on a project and tasks within it

Cons

  • More intuitive user interface
  • Simpler project creation
  • Tutorials for seldom performed tasks
  • Makes product development easier to track
  • Helps establish a routine procedure for project management
  • Allows a quick view of milestones, progress and resources
I personally use a group of templates created as a custom build for my company which is tailored to our needs. This helps us work through a project with most required elements in place but the flexibility to add and subtract as needed. For a chemistry focused business this lets us concentrate on the end result.
We track completion timelines for milestones, hours worked vs. hours allocated for specific projects and resources. As a leader this helps me coach my team members to use their time most effectively and perform at their peak. This helps move projects forward as smoothly as possible with the least delay.
We don't really integrate AdaptiveWork with other platforms at this time, but it might be under consideration.
AdaptiveWork allows us to improve our time to market for new products. Being able to plan new projects in advance and implement them when resources are available is a great asset. Being able to suspend projects at applicable times to shift resources to urgent needs and then pick up again when possible with new predicted timelines helps us react to unforeseen issues such as supply chain disruptions.
We use AdaptiveWork to coordinate activities between different functions such as product management and R&D to improve the final customer experience and improve quality.

Do you think Planview AdaptiveWork delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Planview AdaptiveWork's feature set?

Yes

Did Planview AdaptiveWork live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Planview AdaptiveWork go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Planview AdaptiveWork again?

Yes

It is well suited to product improvement projects with relatively defined goals and simpler implementation methods. Harder to predict and implement longer term projects which may change in scope over time. A more flexible framework for less defined project goals would be helpful. Great for well defined projects with specific tasks and goals.

Configuring Planview AdaptiveWork

The customizable features are right for our usage, we are able to adapt it for our needs. While or projects are not too complex we still have certain procedures and milestones which need to be custom applied to the basic software in order to manage our projects. The software allows us to do this as required.
There should be regular reviews of the different configurations to ensure they work for the majority of users. I find some configurations are repetitive and could be streamlined.
Some - we have done small customizations to the interface - It was easily performed.
No - we have not done any custom code
Nothing comes to mind, we may work at integrating the software into other platforms for ease of interoperability.
