Overall Satisfaction with Prophix
We are currently using Prophix for our budget; only the finance department is utilizing it. The biggest problem we have is that we cannot connect our current ERP to Prophix to allow for budget vs. actual reporting. In our old ERP the reporting capabilities were great and we were able to automate several of our processes to save a considerable amount of time.
- Workflow is very useful and saves time
- Ad Hoc reporting is a very useful tool across our accounting department for research and analysis
- Allocations work very well with Prophix and are easy to maintain
- We cannot currently connect Prophix to our ERP for actual vs. budget reporting
- Automation of budget workflow
- Automation of distribution of monthly reporting
In our previous ERP (Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains) we were able to integrate Prophix and the functionality worked very well. Reporting was very easy and efficient. We currently use Workday and we have not been able to make the connection. This poses a problem because we cannot do any budget versus actual reporting.
I think this flexibility is very important. At the time we implemented Prophix we used to on premise approach, however in our current state we could benefit more from the cloud implementation. Being able to use the web client would be a big win for us since there is a lot more functionality and software updates wouldn’t be as cumbersome.
- Adaptive Insights and a Workday company
We have not yet purchased Adaptive Insights. From the demos we have seen it works very similar to Prophix, which we are a huge fan of. If Prophix had a better way to connect with Workday we would probably stick with it for a few more years. We will be switching to Adaptive sometime within the next 2 years.
Prophix Feature Ratings
Using Prophix
We previously tried to create a report to use for line item comments but were not very successful.
We have definitely benefited from the automation of monthly reporting. We have a monthly Management report package that we send out to our executives and we were able to set them up to be automatically distributed.
10 - Most of the users right now are in our accounting department and use it for budget reporting. Previously all of our department managers used Prophix to enter their department budgets.
5 - We have 3 admins that take care of the general set up of Prophix and maintaining users and security. We have one person in IT that takes care of updates. We have one software engineer that works on integrations.
Integrating Prophix
- Microsoft Dynamics GP
- Workday
I was not a part of the entire integration to connect to GP but I feel like it was not too difficult to accomplish. Workday on the other hand, we have not been able to make that connection yet.
- Workday
As far as I know they do not
- File import/export
- Single Signon
- API (e.g. SOAP or REST)
I would have to defer this question to our software engineer.
Using Prophix

- Ad Hoc reporting
- Automatic Report Distribution
- Budget Workflow
- connecting to WD

Yes, but I don't use it
Prophix Reliability
Relationship with Prophix Software
I was not a part of these negotiations
I did not deal with the vendor directly
Prophix Support
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Quick Resolution Good followup Knowledgeable team Problems get solved Kept well informed No escalation required Immediate help available Support understands my problem Support cares about my success Quick Initial Response | None |
I have submitted 6 cases with Prophix and each one of them were handled very efficiently and timely. Even if the issues were due to something internally Prophix was able to work with our IT department to get an issue resolved.
Prophix Training
- Self-taught
We did have a 3rd party vendor that helped us with the set up, however the hands on training was lacking so we had to take on most of that on our own. We have a very aggressive implementation timeline but we were able to successfully get everything set up, with a few minor set backs. Overall I think I would recommend researching vendors and finding a good solid consultant to assist.
Upgrading Prophix
Yes - I do not work in IT but communicate with them directly. As far as I know the update process is very smooth
Evaluating Prophix and Competitors
Yes - Prophix replaces Microsoft Dynamics Forecaster. This program was no longer going to be supported so we had to make a switch. Prophix was our first choice.
- Price
- Product Features
- Product Usability
I didn't have a lot to with the decision making for Prophix. I know that the capabilities were very impressive and integrating with our ERP at the time was presented to be fairly streamlined.
I don't think I would change anything. We made a good solid decision and it worked out pretty much exactly how we planned.
Prophix Implementation
- Third-party professional services
We went through Turnkey Technologies for our implementation
Yes - In our first phase we set up Prophix and built out the budget and workflow process. Building reports was our phase 2.
- Lack of knowledge on how the system works
- Lack of knowledge on building complex reports
Configuring Prophix
No - we have not done any customization to the interface
No - we have not done any custom code
We have not configured any customizations in Prophix
