Overall Satisfaction with QuickBooks Pro

We use QuickBooks for all accounting functions of our company, with the exception of payroll. In the past, we have used the payroll module, but currently we are using ADP as our payroll service provider. It addresses all of our current accounting situations and concerns.
  • Costing - We use the class codes to account for government grants and research projects
  • Accounts Payable - Very simple and easy to use
  • Reports - Customizable and very easy to run
  • Manufacturing - keeping up with costs (possibly another version does this better)
  • Reports - history on invoices (A/P and A/R) - wish some historical info on invoices was easier to capture in a report format
  • Bank Reconciliations - I use to be able to print several previous recons - no longer - do not like not being able to do this
  • Positive - very efficient system to use; one clerical person can accomplish much more on QuickBooks than a larger, more complex system, and it lends valuable information
QuickBooks seems much more user friendly than the common competition out there, yet it performs well and most data that goes in can be gotten out quite nicely
I think it is best suited to businesses who are simple and have limited costing situations. Also, it is best to have someone with a healthy knowledge of accounting using it and closing the books each month. QuickBooks is so user friendly, it is easy to mess up for those without adequate accounting knowledge, and therefore it requires accounting discipline running it.
