Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We did a trial of Reveal Embedded. Our goal was to use the platform to accelerate our UI development around data visualization and dashboarding.

Pros and Cons

Quick/Easy connection to Data Warehouse
Attractive visualizations
Pre-built themes

When we demoed, Reveal was early in its lifecycle, and lacked features that some competitors have.
Click on a viz to drill down and filter was missing
Customizing colors and themes was missing when we demoed.

Return on Investment

None, since we didn't purchase after the trial.

Usability

Reveal is great and easy to get going for simple dashboarding. As the product matures, I'm confident it will be competitive with more mature offerings.

Alternatives Considered

Periscope Data, Looker, Tableau Online and Microsoft Power BI

Reveal's integrated .NET component approach is interesting. Many solutions have an iFrame only option, which limits your applications ability to interact with dashboards.

Other Software Used

Tableau Desktop, Microsoft Power BI, Looker

For quick and attractive BI, without complicated customization or drill-down, Reveal is perfect. They may have added some features that it lacked since our trial ended. They said several of those were on the roadmap.

Reveal shows lots of promise, is still a young product.
