Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct

We use Sage Intacct as our accounting platform and is only used by our finance teams in the US and UK. It is great for a multi-entity company like ourselves that trade and have employees in different countries around the world.

Pros

  • Sage Intacct is very good as a source of information, storing data of employees and vendors in a user friendly way.
  • It's customisable. The menus you see when viewing journals/vendors/employees can be changed to suit your working habits.
  • The general navigation system around the platform is super easy to use.

Cons

  • On some screens, i.e. the journal importing screen, the close button is too close to the import button and have, at times, accidentally closed the screen except for importing, meaning I am having to repeat the same process again.
  • Unknown. As an administrator, I only use the Time and Expenses Module and the General Ledger modules, therefore my insight is a little limited.
We are in the process of implementing an order management facility, so it'll be interesting to see how that works with Intacct.
We import the expense reports from our expense platform, Expensify, and Intacct handles this very well with the Time and Expenses module. the correct level of detail is captured and reviewing the expenses before payment is made very easy, right through to reimbursement to the employee where the reporting is ideal for our needs.
Integrating with Expensify is very easy, however, when we have an employee that changes their name (i.e. through deed poll or marriage), the connection between Expensify and IntAcct is lost as the email stored is used as the linking factor. It's a small item that wouldn't come up in everyday use, but it can be annoying. It would be good if the connection between the 2 platforms got synced automatically overnight or at regular intervals in the background, rather than having to sync it manually.
I've not used many accounting platforms like Intacct, I've mainly worked with payroll software, where it's sole purpose is to complete the payroll each month.
It's very good when dealing with staff expenses, where we are able to import the reports from our expenses platform, Expensify, where we can import items to specific codes, it recognises the different entities, etc.
Sometimes the time it takes to run a report can put a stopper on your workflow. A couple of colleagues have had to set a report running and go to lunch so that they are not wasting productive time.
