Better accounting tools, but needs to improve its add-on modules
Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct
Sage Intacct is our Core ERP program that is used throughout the organization. It has improved our ability to capture critical information related to our projects. We have better insights into our time tracking, project-related expenses, and better management of deferred revenue. Prior to implementing Intacct, our organization did not know if we were profitable, or any financial details on the performance of our projects and clients. Post-implementation, we were able to identify efficiency issues within our organization and chart a better path towards sustained long-term profitability.
Pros
- The accounting functions are phenomenal.
- Cash management.
- Integration with Salesforce.
Cons
- The reporting is overly complicated and hard to use. The UI is terrible. Had we known about this prior to purchasing, we would have chosen a competitor instead.
- The projects module needs a better resource and project management tool. Again, the UI is not user-friendly, and the reporting is extremely difficult to utilize. A lot of work towards improvement needs to be put into the Projects Module.
- It would be very useful to enable more flexibility in making changes to posted transactions that are not in a closed period. It's frustrating having to reverse a series of transactions just to make a minor $0.01 change in the original transaction. Or if a transaction was posted to the wrong account, it would be nice to be able to change the account posting, instead of having to reverse and recreate the transaction. I would also like to be able to post an item to different accounts, depending on the circumstances.
- We have a better understanding of our business.
- We are able to more accurately model our finances to the economic model of our business.
- We learned that we were losing money.
This is revolutionary. The automation features for accounting functions are empowering our finance professionals to spend more time on critical tasks, and less time on routine entry. Automation is helping us keep costs in our cost centers flat, improve the productivity of our team members, and enable a more professional presentation of the organization.
Project accounting has improved our understanding of the work that we do for our clients. We are gaining greater insights into the profitability of our projects. Project managers are able to have visibility on projects, and team members' availability, for the first time in our organization's history. Outside of the financial component of the Project module, there needs to be more work for it to be a true project management add-on tool.
Quickbooks was our legacy system, and did not provide an easy means to do project-based accounting. SAP Business One was too complicated and expensive for a company of our size. Sage Intacct addressed our core need for project-based accounting at a reasonable price point.
