ScreenConnect - connecting us with our render farm
Overall Satisfaction with ScreenConnect
ScreenConnect has been an invaluable tool for large scale projects our studio works on; our render farm equipment is housed in another location to our workstations, so ScreenConnect enables us to address any issues and perform troubleshooting on the equipment without having to physically go to the render farm's location. It also enables many of our staff to work remotely as the need arises, making sure we are as responsive to our clients and their needs as many are in different time zones to us.
Pros
- Clear Interface - ScreenConnect's interface is easy to understand and enables you to see all of your assets at a glance, which saves time.
- Responsive Customer Support - Any questions I've had for the ScreenConnect team were responded to promptly, and those I have engaged in a live chat have been able to process my query quickly.
- White Label Opportunities - We've been able to brand ScreenConnect in a few ways to blend in with our existing software, creating a comfortable working environment for our staff and contractors.
- Customization - We've tweaked a number of features to suit us, minimizing the impact our administrative actions have on staff workflow.
Cons
- Pricing - we'd love a per seat pricing structure; as our team size has changed we’ve been over the limit for the number of seats in our particular plan – the next plan up is significantly over what is required so we've gone without ScreenConnect access on some machines at times.
- Time Saving – Staff troubleshooting equipment housed at another location can immediately take action; previously they would have needed to ask senior management to accompany them to the hardware, and physically take a keyboard, mouse and monitor to plug in.
- Efficiency – Support for multiple sessions has allowed staff to deploy updates to our software to multiple machines at once, getting updates to the team faster and freeing them up for other tasks.
- Cost Saving – ScreenConnect costs less for our needs than other software we have previously used.
- Team Viewer
Particularly for the price, ScreenConnect offered more customization, flexibility and white label options than TeamViewer. In the end, budget did make the decision for us, even though the team had a long-term familiarity with TeamViewer. A more flexible pricing structure may have leveled the playing field in our case.
