Overall Satisfaction with Skype for Business (formerly Lync)
We used it as a company wide instant messaging tool and also for some file and screen sharing. It allows users to see if other users are online and get a quick response to a question. It was also used to send files, images and screen shares quickly while on the phone as well.
Pros
- Shows status if available, away or in a meeting
- Instant messaging
- File share
Cons
- Call quality
- Does not tie into Microsoft ecosystem in the same way teams does
- Sometimes status seem slow to update
- Faster response times to questions than e-mail
- Allows for quick screen share to speed problem resolution
- Allows for ease of collaboration
- Microsoft Teams and Slack
Skype for Business is more limited than Microsoft Teams or Slack but it was already in place at the organization and thus was the solution we continued to use. Teams has a more complete integration with the Microsoft suite of products and the same is true with Slack and Salesforce.
