Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor
We use this product to monitor our network infrastructure consisting of Cisco Routers, Switches and Wireless at multiple North America locations. This tool allows us to be proactive with the support of our environment by identifying problem areas related to design flaws, hardware failure, and areas of congestion. Since we acquired the tool, we are no longer blind to events that take place in our environment.
- The product does a great job of discovering devices in our network as well as identifying what they are.
- This product is easy to install when you follow the installation guide and meet the system requirements.
- The ability to drill down into switches, routers, servers and wireless devices is beneficial to the support of our environment.
- I would like to see the product run on a Linux server platform such as RHEL instead of a windows server platform.
- Support for open source databases as a repository instead of MS SQL.
- If the product was sold as an appliance.
- The product has had a positive impact on network reliability and performance.
- The ability to be proactive has reduced our outage windows and made us more profitable.
- The visibility the product gives us has helped us when creating our IT budget.
We currently have What's Up Gold to monitor up down and other areas as well. The product is unstable and costly to operate and support. We are in the process of decommissioning What's Up Gold as we are now utilizing NPM to do what What's Up Gold used to do and so much more.
