Overall Satisfaction with Symantec VIP
Symantec VIP adds a much-needed layer of protection and authentication for our users. With 2-factor authentication, we have that extra layer of security and protection. It also includes a credential wallet feature which allows our users to scan a QR code to securely generate security codes for your favorite websites like Google, Facebook, GitHub, and more. Symantec VIP also provides a secure token to connect to a VPN client that our IT users frequently use especially when they travel outside of the country.
- The UI is intuitive and simple to use and navigate. When generating a secure token to be used for VPN access, all the navigation is clear and intuitive. There is no confusion when our users use Symantec VIP.
- Every generated token expires after 30-60 seconds, thus providing an extra layer of security and reducing any risk of someone re-using a token or pin to gain unauthorized access into our system.
- The app is super responsive and has no lag and little to no latency. Everything loads quickly and is super speedy.
- Our department can opt for a 6 digit code which we can use while logging in on different sites and SSO access can be easily set up and achieved with this tool.
- There is no option to generate an offline token which is possible in some competing products.
- Relatively more costly than other similar products. It would be good to have a more affordable plan or tier.
- The set up phase and installation is long and not as straightforward, a little confusing and should be easy so users can get up and running quickly.
- For some users the interface is too small, it would be nice to have an option to resize.
- Can connect to our VPN quickly, which helps our users gain access to our local resources remotely even when outside our network.
- Great support and troubleshooting so implementation was not difficult.
- Improved our security institution-wide, which leaves us less vulnerable to attacks and sensitive information getting into the wrong hands.
- Great documentation available for this product so training our IT professionals on how to be admins for this product is not challenging.
When it comes to Symantec's value offering, it's on par with its competitors with the exception of not offering offline tokens. Other competing products offer offline tokens so this is definitely something they should think about adding. The interface is better than some of its competition but set up could be easier.
