Veeam Backup & Replication
Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform
Veeam is used to back up all our VMs and physical hosts; we also use it for replication, offsite backups, and DR testing. Before, it would require lots of manual work, but Veeam is fully automated and has very little user input. We also use Veeam to move VMs between data stores and hosts etc., without the need to have additional licensing with VMware.
- Virtualized workloads
- Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
- Enterprise applications such as Oracle or SAP HANA
- In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
- NAS filers
- In addition to back up, we also snapshot some of these workloads
- Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
- Utilizing backup copies for secondary purposes via DataLabs
- Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
- “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
- Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
- Excellent backup of data/vm's.
- Easy to manage backup copies, tape libraries etc.
- Easy and fast to recover vm's or individual files.
- Improvements could be made around tape library and media sets.
- More advanced features for somethings like timeouts etc..
Do you think Veeam Data Platform delivers good value for the price?
Yes
Are you happy with Veeam Data Platform's feature set?
Yes
Did Veeam Data Platform live up to sales and marketing promises?
Yes
Did implementation of Veeam Data Platform go as expected?
Yes
Would you buy Veeam Data Platform again?
Yes
We back up around 20 VMs, a handful of physical hosts, and fragmented data across various shares. This has certainly grown over the years with what we expected just because Veeam can handle it all in one central place.
- Veeam has given us a complete confidence on data integrity and our DR plan.
Veeam was introduced to us by a 3rd party, and prior to that, we were using Symantec backup exec, which had various issues and required a lot of manual input and checking. Veeam by comparison, just does it all without us really having to have any input.
We have not used Veeam yet to backup to/from cloud platforms. We expect this will likely change over the next 12 months.
NAS/File share backups are great for consolidating all that data in one location. Makes it easier than having to rely on that data being backed up separately.
Using Veeam Data Platform
10 - IT management uses all functions to manage data; users have the ability to self-restore data themselves.
