Veeam Backup & Replication

Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform

Backups, Backup Testing, Data Recovery, Malware Protection. Every VM (about 100) in my Organization gets backupped multiple times per day. Once set up it runs these jobs without any problems. The created Backups get checked every Week. So in a emergency we can fully trust these backups that a recovery will work. The Recory Process workd very flawless and fast. Integration with our used products (vmWare, HP Nimble, NAS) works wihtout any Problems.

Yes

Did implementation of Veeam Data Platform go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Veeam Data Platform again?

Yes

All of our virtual workloads are protected by Veeam Data Platform. Only some physical workloads are protected. That was the amount I anticipated when I ordered the product.
  • Faster Recovery +25%
  • Faster Backups (WAN Accelerator)
  • Sure Backups
I started woring here and didn't want to support the old Backup Infrastructure here. So we did a refresh os th old system. As I already knew Veeam Data Platform from my old job I suggested the move. Veeam Data Platform is just plain simple and works. Once setup you can rely on the Backups it made thanks to SureBackups.
It was easy for the start to just backup something to an already available NAS. After my collegues were convinced we ordered something more robust for backups.
If you use a lot of virtual machines. Especially if the Hypervisor is supported by Veeam Data Platform. It makes keeping your backups secure and stable and is really easy to use. Also delegating differnet workloads to your collegues is really easy. The Licensing of the product is also very easy to understand.

Using Veeam Data Platform

3 - IT-Assistant - Changes the Backpup Tape Drives and checks the Logs System Administrator - Installs new Backup Tapes and is keeping veeam up to date System Administrator - Installs new Backup Tapes and is keeping Veeam Data Platform up to date
1 - To keep Veeam Data Platform running there is really not much to know. Once configured it just runs. When using SureBackup you even know how good your Backups work before you need them. Very handy tool!
  • Data Recovery
  • Backup Testing
  • Organizing Backups
  • Backup of a MySQL Database residing on a Docker container
  • Cloud Backups
  • More SureBackup configurations
It is an established tool and it runs fine. I have no complaints about. So there is no need to re-evaluate other Backup Systems.

Evaluating Veeam Data Platform and Competitors

Yes -
Backup Exec and Acronis True Image.
They weren't reliable anymore and were working very slow. Due to a license change it would have cost us a lot more too to keep both these Applications working.
  • Integration with Other Systems
  • Ease of Use
As a nearly sole IT-Sysadmin it is important that such critical roles can be delegated. And these delegates often don't have a thorough knowledge of IT. So simplicity is one key feature. As I dont't want to reorganize the wohloe IT-Infrastructure it was also important that veeam would integrate with the systems that were already here.
There is nothing to be changed. I tested the other Applications as thoroughly as Veeam Data Platform. Veeam Data Platform was just the best and easiest, so the choice was made.

Veeam Data Platform Implementation

The implementaion was very good. Everything was installed as wanted and is working until today.
  • Third-party professional services
Bechtle Rottenburg GmbH
Change management was minimal - It was a very easy implementation process. Our partner knew our envorinment so the implementation was very lean.
  • small server racks
  • wrong Fibre-Channel Cables

Yes because backups are important. If you need support for your Backup Infrastructure it should be fast and transparent. So we ordered professional support from Veeam Data Platform and our MSRP.
We had a licensing issue where we would merge two firms into one. The support was so nice and helped us merging these License so that we won't get any issues with these.
