Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard AuthPoint

AuthPoint is being used by our entire organization from the bottom to the top. It gives us a much needed additional layer of security for our traveling users as well as the work from home crew.
  • AuthPoint supports many easy-to-use authentication options.
  • AuthPoint management is logical and simple.
  • AuthPoint doesn't require much regular maintenance, if any.
  • AuthPoint makes it as smooth and simple as it can be, but end users find 2-factor authentication annoying. Not a knock on AuthPoint.
  • AuthPoint has saved us in a case where a user's password was compromised and their home was broken into. They were able to get through the Windows password prompt but our employee was able to deny the AuthPoint auth request. This saved us from who knows how much damage.
We haven't evaluated any other products like AuthPoint. We use Watchguard for other security needs and this was a no-brainer for us.
I love having the ability to manage AuthPoint from anywhere, no VPN or direct access needed. Not having to setup, maintain, or babysit on-premise hardware was a big factor for us. WatchGuard supports MFA to access their Cloud so we can be sure our configuration is safe. Deploying AuthPoint in the big Covid work from home shift was painless partially due to Cloud management.
The Smartphone app activation was quick and easy just as long as you remember to activate it before you install the desktop app and reboot. Not all LDAP/AD users have access to work email on their phones. Not a huge issue to get around if you can access the local admin or gain access to their email through OWA or similar. The activation flow is simple and users received it well. Most people understood the need for security but some requested additional compensation for the additional annoyance and one user just doesn't keep his phone near him at all times.
We only use AuthPoint for the Windows logon process and haven't gotten into the other resource authentication possibilities. It's great to know the SSO exists and we may soon implement it.
