Overall Satisfaction with Whova

Used in order to connect and communicate with conference attendees at an annual conference. It was a useful tool that allowed attendees to get to know one another and the atmosphere of the conference before it even began, allowed folks to stay in touch with one another throughout the conference asking questions relating to the content, share resources, as well as ask general logistic questions related to the conference location.
  • Easily connecting attendees to one another and ease of communication
  • Making it simple for attendees to connect their LinkedIn accounts so images and information are automatically shared
  • App is visually easy on the eyes and user-friendly
  • Uploading handouts to conference sessions wasn't immediately clear--many people were confused about needing to go through the email link and it not being immediately available on the app.
  • Agenda was not always easy to navigate--having it clearer which day was selected was tricky.
  • Some sessions occurred at the same time in the same place, but they were laid out on the app like separate events. Finding some way to make it apparent that they were occurring one after another as a single session with multiple parts would have been helpful.
  • Ease of functionality
  • Resource sharing
  • Connecting people from separate institutions
Whova is easier to navigate on the app, but Sched has better functionality on its browser interface. I believe in Sched that there isn't the same ability to port in a LinkedIn account, but I'm not sure I'm remembering that right. Whova also does a better job at allowing participants to communicate with one another within the app, creating spur of the moment meetups and internal messaging, as well as suggesting connections like folks who have had similar alma mater institutions. Overall, I thought Whova does a really good job at connecting people in addition to sharing resources related to conference presentations.

Do you think Whova delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Whova's feature set?

Yes

Did Whova live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Whova go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Whova again?

Yes

Conference sessions are always helpful. Another conference I attend, called the POD Network, might be interested in the application. We use a different conference app, but Whova seems to be easier to navigate. It may not work as well having it as an app people use throughout the year, as we all go back to our respective institutions, but it would be nice to have continuity for future conferences.
