1ShoppingCart

It's really user preference. Some people have been told by other colleagues that it's a great system to use so they want to go with that. There are other systems that do exactly the same thing. I have not found that 1ShoppingCart has any unique features that would lead me to persuade a client to use it over another one. I usually have clients look at two or three options and give feedback. Sometimes it comes down to monthly prices.

Infusionsoft

Infusionsoft excels with small business. It really tries hard to represent the small business community. If you are a small business, there is a good chance it will work well for you. If you are a part of a medium or large business, however, just think twice about it and consider other options first.

Pros

  • Access to contact information and creating customer profiles - good for reaching out through customer service, accessing email address, address and detailed information on the client helpful for responding quickly and easily
  • Able to add products and programs through auto responders - able to help share information with different groups of people easily and based on specific options within 1ShoppingCart
  • Easy to create coupon codes and pass to customers or add to website or newsletter for specific time ranges and products
  • Simple to add different products and sell easily with the integrated shopping cart
  • Great tool for multiple users to use and work as a virtual team based on different tasks and range that 1ShoppingCart has
  • Ability to create detailed reports based on sales, customers, and so much more. Very helpful for planning.

  • Marketing automation. I have not found another software or service that can compare in the complete automation of a marketing campaign. There is nothing I can't do by either utilizing Infusionsoft's built in marketing, or using the API connections to integrate with 3rd parties.
  • Infusionsoft's API gives access to nearly every table in Infusionsoft's database that I would ever need to edit, giving me the ability to integrate with nearly any other system.

Cons

  • The UI needs improvement. There are other systems out there that are more intuitive.
  • Customizing/branding a shopping cart page can be a little tricky - when it should be very simple.
No photo available
  • Infusionsoft can be a challenge for new less-tech savvy customers. As a business owner, technology is not always a top skill. I've worked with a number of clients who purchased Infusionsoft in an effort to grow their business only to be completely overwhelmed and scared about how to get it setup and operational.
  • Better one-on-one account management with regular check-in's to make sure that the Infusionsoft customer is happy, has all the resources they need for setup. This may help get people shifted over and fully converted to Infusionsoft faster so it doesn't feel like a financial burden paying for old systems (Constant Contact, MailChimp, 1ShoppingCart, etc) AND Infusionsoft simultaneously for several months.
  • A "before we get started" checklist to help new clients get more prepared before their first training session. For example: Have your business logo .jpg ready w dimensions of X, Have a .jpg email header logo(s) available w dimension of X, Have a sample product image available, have a CSV file of your contacts exported from your existing email program, have X questions prepared so we can begin working on your specific needs asap.

Likelihood to Renew

If I were in charge of the renewal decision I would really take a look at 1SC vs. Infusionsoft. There are many ways each are great and many ways they are different. I would look at what was best for my company and make the choice accordingly. I find that Infusionsoft has many more ways to intuitively market, segment and cultivate new leads and grow the business as a whole than 1SC currently has.

I give Infusionsoft a 7 out of 10 because it really is a good and deep tool. Next time we're in the market for an email automation tool I believe we will start at a tool with a lower price point until we can feel out our needs. When our email marketing volume increases into the 10-30k per month the sophistication Infusionsoft brings to the table will be much more valuable.

Infusionsoft is certainly powerful enough to do anything you need it to do and for the average computer-user it should be easy to figure out. Anyone who has used other CRMs should have no problem adapting to Infusionsoft.

OMG, it's all in one and that compromises everything, fundamentally. If you want a race car, invest in a race car. If you want a dune buggy, get that. If you want a boat that floats, go for it.

It may be easy to get someone on chat or phone for which I give these guys credit. But this does not mean you will get the answers you want or like. It's a buggy system. Why? Because it's all in one. The CRM is decent. The cart a joke. The email editor laughable. Affiliate partner function serves a huge business risk unless programmed by a NASA level consultant for which you can and must pay dearly. There are just too many bugs overall.

This training is taught often to the lowest common denominator so as to help as many customers of theirs as possible. We do the training and coaching and implementations for our clients. But clients who I know who have been to their training get trained well. The gap that can exist lies in you doing your part and really investing in using and building out the application. The training and education is only as good as your willingness to apply it.

It was frustrating as hell. You can't teach a kid to ride a bike in a seminar, you can't do it over the phone with tech support, unless you have some talent and the patience of Job. Being is business is hard enough. Adding new software is a pain in the butt. The path of least resistance is to find a professional who lives in this stuff and pay up for the talent. It's less expensive in the long run and you'll likely not need to self medicate. As much.

Alternatives Considered

Again, it's the client that usually selects the system they want to use. I think 1ShoppingCart has lower monthly payment options so that makes it more appealing. Infusionsoft has a $2k payment that must be made in order to use their product

The others are not trying to be all things to all people. The others don't pretend their solution is the end-all-be-all to save small business owners. They are not all in one and don't pretend to be, regardless of the price points, from lower to higher. We used Infusionsoft because I, as the owner of the company, was willing to invest hundreds of hours learning and using the system. Plus, I paid out thousands of dollars over the first several years for others to help me integrate it with our marketing campaigns because I am not a programmer and never will be. I enjoy doing this kind of work on top of the coaching and advising I do for a living. Then I made automation and content marketing a natural extension of my business. It complimented by business model, until recently, when we found a better solution that does not try to be all things to all people and save the world.

Scalability

Pricing is user and email and function based. Way too many pay walls and not native function for scaling. It's scaleable with NASA level marketing automation talent you must pay to engage. Otherwise, it gets expensive quickly for scaling to a true small business, which is what they target. Over 25 users and you're screwed. Look at the competition first, evaluate what you really need for your business and start there. Keep it simple, build your cash flow and confidence in the people you hired to make this work and then scale. Don't get sucked into the dream that this thing will help you sell your book to millions and you get famous while hanging on your boat or whatever. Building a small business is hard enough. Adding software often adds complexity in order to successfully scale.

Return on Investment

  • Increased employee efficiency
  • Integration of shopping cart in website
  • Better customer service
  • Improved brand visiability

  • Our success is NEVER based on software. Neither is yours. Software is a tool. Your success and ours in business and life have more to do with your strategy, discipline, focus, ethics, team and overall desire to succeed no matter what.
  • I used to be far more in favor of this solution until I got to see a number of new competitors who focus on pure automation, business intelligence, ease of use for professionals to implement, etc.
  • The worst part about this solution is how hard they make it to import and clean list, regardless of source, and begin using the system to send emails, which is it's core function. They make it hard to do this on purpose, under the guise that it's about list integrity, deliverability, etc. And they compel recipients of emails to report you for spam on the tail end of an opt out. Yuck. Many competitors will not make it so hard! But this doesn't mean you can import crappy lists and perform spammy email practices.
