EchoSpan 360-Degree Feedback Tool

I can't imagine a scenario where it is less appropriate than any other 360 tool. It's easy to use, customizable, and inexpensive. Reports are easy to interpret. Great tool for anyone looking to implement a new 360.

emPerform

How easily the system interfaces with the HRIS system is essential for setup. Unfortunately, the emPerform system doesn't seem to perform as well as we would like. Review setup is cumbersome and time consuming. We like the customized workflow, but would like more abilities to assign reviewers.

Pros

  • Competency library is robust - includes pretty much any competency that you would need
  • Excellent customer service, both online (demonstrations of how to) and via phone/email
  • Completely customizable - different targets can have different competencies, rater types, rating scales, etc.
  • Ability to customize workflow.
  • Ability for Human Resources to aid managers by making recommendations/edits to comments before employees receive their evaluation.
  • Customized security profiles to ensure each stage of the process is administered according to a specific business model.

Cons

  • It took us a little while to figure out how to set up a 360 (we didn't watch the demo videos until later), but once we did, it was very easy to use.
  • Layout modifications when employees and managers are in "review" mode. The system would benefit greatly from having everything accessible with only a single click. The current layout requires the reviewer to visit different areas before even reaching the rating area.
  • Cloud-based performance management! With the popularity of remote and telework positions, it would be fantastic to offer employees and managers the ability to log in from anywhere and still access the performance management system.
  • Ease of use and integration with HRIS systems.

Customer support and the cost of the product would be my number one reasons. Customer support is fantastic!

We feel very strongly about moving to a platform that's easier to manage and provides our employees/managers with a faster tool. We like the convenience of cloud-based software.

Alternatives Considered

Both EchoSpan and the other vendor supplied comparable products, so the major difference was the cost involved. EchoSpan is much more affordable and offers a very similar quality of report.

Return on Investment

  • It has allowed feedback from many employees so certain issues that needed to be dealt with became more transparent.
  • Reduction in administrative time by having all of the performance evaluations available through an electronic portal.
  • Ability to have quick reporting on the status of evaluations and metrics on suggested training and development plans.
