This product is well suited for an organization that is focused on client services, project delivery, time tracking, expense reporting, and revenue recognition. From a pure project management perspective, this product is not as feature rich as say Microsoft Project Server. For organizations that are looking for detailed complex project plan and resource management (along with resource leveling, etc.), this is probably not the best suited product

  • Time tracking - OpenAIR covers the corner cases as well, like when end of the month falls in the middle of the week and people are require to submit the timesheets for the current month only
  • Project management - using the project team, assigning tasks and using the existing reporting can really help a project manager in doing his/her job
  • Reporting - many built-in reports and the ability to create custom reports.
  • Okta integration - very helpful for single sign on, especially for cloud applications as OpenAIR

We have to look at the whole ecosystem, if it happened that we changed our CRM or ERP, we want to make sure that OpenAir Netsuite PSA is compatible with them, if not there is a chance [we would] switch to an alternative solution.

Aside from Reporting, where there is some room for improvement, the usability is overall very strong. In Reporting, you can get the job done for the most part, but it might take a lot of creativity to get there.

They were responsive and knowledgeable. We had access to a single point of contact and we could contact him via phone/email as needed. It was very convenient and it made it easy since that person was already familiar with how we were using the solution, our configuration, etc.

Online Training

We did a 3 day online remote course back in April. NetSuite prefers training to occur before migration. We went over the functionality of tool and three months later we migrated. Personally, I didn’t find it that beneficial. Certain parts of it were beneficial as they applied to me – talked a lot about invoicing capabilities that didn’t apply to me. They also have knowledge base / e-learning assets, but I haven’t referred to them

It went fine. Everything came over the way we wanted. In addition to migrating the current projects we wanted to migrate historical data – did that seamlessly. The finished product looked pretty good – just needed to tweak – and they helped us with that

Alternatives Considered

Any.do is simple and easy to use. I'm huge fan of Wunderlist, but now a fan of Any.do too.

Netsuite is a better and more scaleable solution for our agency as we have grown from just a few employees in 2001 to nearly 100 employees today. Netsuite helps us track expenses, time reporting, getting approvals on large purchases, project management from a personnel standpoint. It's also easy to use for the simpler tasks, i.e., remote access via the web and mobile app. versions.
