First try to understand the requirement and then you can build anything in SAP CRM with standard / non standard functionality. Whenever standard functionality cannot meet thebusiness needs, functional requirements are written by the business users and given to the APAP engineer to customize the product appropriately.

SAP HANA

HANA has incredible query processing speeds. When compared with Sybase ASE for large dataset queries, we saw 10,000 times performance improvement. And for the individual point queries, we found that it was on par with Sybase ASE and that is because all of the response time is the round trip latency from the client initiating the query to the database and back. But for those large set processing requests that take a long time on Sybase, they ran 10,000 times faster on HANA. HANA is expensive so it should be used where in-memory transaction speeds are required and there are large volumes of data to be processed.

  • If you have an SAP ERP system, you get out-of-the box data integration and can easily configure end-to-end business processes that span multiple systems.
  • While the core functionality is comparable to a lot of the other systems, SAP CRM is still one of the best solutions available for companies needing functionality like Trade Promotion Management, Market Development Funds, etc...
  • The system is highly customizable and can be easily configured / enhanced to work in a wide variety of scenarios.

  • HANA has allowed us to convert our BW reports and provide users with real time report data. Prior to moving to HANA, the reporting was based on prior day activities.
  • Queries involving large amount of financial data are able to be run much quicker with HANA than prior to implementation.

  • There is not much room for improvement, as SAP has recently launched SAP C4 HANA as the improved version of SAP CRM with added functionality.
  • SAP CRM has a little room for improvement in how efficient it is for users
  • SAP CRM's performance could be improved in terms of Orders to be searched in the backend, and the DB level has to be improved

  • Personally I believe the UI could be much more compact and I see improvement areas.
  • Mobile application and desktop are very different.
  • Sometimes you need type-in help on mouse hover for faster input and selection.
  • Now HANA is going cloud where data and security becomes a concern for larger companies. We want to see a benchmark company in manufacturing domain with such a large retail presence. I see there are areas for improvement in that.

SAP's CRM is a very fast and effective tool. The ability to track things (credits, items, ect.) through CRM is vastly improved over the systems that I have used in the past. It is an incredble system, when it comes to pulling data that has been input back out. You can also run reports on anything in the system. This ability allows you the opportunity to print off reports and show them to customers so that they have a clear understanding of what you have been doing for them. In turn, this increases your value to your customers.

At this moment we are not focusing on SAP, however would love to in the future. This is primarily because of our limited ability to generate more revenue to fund for SAP partnerships and products. Our initial tryst with SAP Partneredge open ecosystem didn't go as planned and we have shelved that for now. Hope we can revive in the future

Overall, support is good. The wait times are low, and you get a quick response. The available agents have good knowledge about the problems at hand. If the issue is more complex, they connect you with the appropriate source to build the solution around the issue. Support team is well organized, they take a step-by-step approach to understand the issue at hand and build a solution around it. Overall, my organization is highly satisfied with the support.

SAP HANA

I have used Teradata which is a row-level storage database. It was slow in reporting data from the table. Then we moved to HP Vertica which was a columnar storage but it doesn't support procedure. Now we are using SAP HANA, which is excellent as it has in-memory data storage and returns the results fast.
