Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

I've used a program called Blackbaud and there is no comparison this program is perfect for non-profit companies that need the fund accounting features. Of all the programs I've used, this is far the best.

We are using MIP because they were able to manage our unique general ledger account number needs that are state mandated. I don't find the program to be as easy to use or intuitive as other systems I have used in the past. It is clunky and requires so many steps in order to do even simple functions.

MIP Fund Accounting was the clear choice after having looked at the competition's websites and offerings. They have a better integration for existing databases and were able to customize the service for our specific needs. As a nonprofit the choice to work with a fund allocation software specifically tailored to our needs as a non-profit was obvious.

I have used QuickBooks Premier for Non-Profits in a previous job, but not at my current position. They have used MIP for several years prior to me coming on board. QuickBooks was much easier to learn, but I don't feel it has as much functionality as MIP does with the use of multiple federal and state managements and reporting.

I was not here when MIP was implemented. However having worked with several accounting software prior, the reporting is the single feature that makes MIP stand out above the rest. The reporting takes a little getting used to especially since other software I used had just canned reports. But it is easier than others. I have worked with one accounting software where you had to attend a 4 day class to learn how to create financial reports. I used QuickBooks for one grant in my past. I found it awkward and clunky to create the levels of information I need, where as with MIP much of it feels intuitive.

I personally have used QuickBooks, Quicken, and a long-ago product by Software International. QuickBooks and Quicken are easier to use, but do not provide the reporting that MIP provides.

Non-profits need an easy way to allocate expenses between grants, especially payroll. They also need to be able to provide reporting by grants. MIP seems to be able to provide this system.

I have not had an opportunity to compare this system to others. I had no input in selecting this system. I would have liked to have compared it to other systems in terms of ease of use/intuitiveness, flexibility and granularity of report development, and capabilities in dealing with prior year adjustments and their effect on trial balance reporting. On those counts, I do not think the system scores very high

Prior to MIP, we used a product that interfaced with MS Access. While this product met most of our needs, it was far from being user friendly. Essentially, only the fiscal staff could truly take advantage of what the program had to offer and they would have to generate reports for other staff as needed. MIP, while more powerful, has also proofed to be easier to use. This has allowed other staff to be more proactive in monitoring their budgets.

It is a much better system and very easy to use. It does much more when tracking revenue, expenses and labor. It crosses years which is very beneficial to us. We can export every thing to an Excel spreadsheet for sorting purposes if we are comparing years. The price is very competitive. The online and personal support has been super. The management teams are friendly and have helped us work through anything we didn't understand. I love this program.

MIP Fund Accounting was implemented shortly before I started at this organization. However, over the several years we have used this program we have occasionally browsed the market to see if there are any other options. Our searches never turn up any other software that we feel would provide as much value as MIP Fund Accounting does.

GMS was not 2000 compliant. Fundware was sold and went out of business. A number of peers in related organizations used MIP and recommended it. This is helpful when you have a problem or a desire to try something new, and can sound it off of others that are familiar with product and the programs you run.
