Great tool for anyone who wants to simplify backup infrastructure. You can eliminate all legacy infra. Just a client software is needed in target server. Backup goes to Druva managed SaaS storage.

If sites do not have high speed internet connection, then it may not be recommended as it will slow up backup and restore speed.

Well suited:
  • On-prem or AWS workloads: VMware, Hyper V, Windows, Linux, SQL.

Not appropriate:
  • Microsoft Exchange on-prem (Druva does not have a specific agent for Exchange as it does for SQL)
  • Azure workloads
  • If you need your backups to be stored on a cloud different from AWS

Druva Phoenix is well-suited for the following scenarios:
  • The need for an offsite backup location when your location is highly volatile.
  • The need for secure offsite storage of your data.
  • The need to set and forget it. The fact that you can monitor the console or use the emailed reports to get status on your backups.
  • The need for minimizing your hardware footprint.

Druva Phoenix is suited to any scenario where an offsite backup is needed to prevent against ransomware attacks on local systems and backups. With multiple backups stored in reliable high-speed offsite backups, any local backups compromised can easily be compensated for.

Druva Phoenix is a good backup solution in case you have servers in-house and you particularly need HIPAA compliance. I had to do plenty of research about this when I was looking for solutions, and this is by far the best option price-wise. Implementation is also easy, and you will have an engineer with you throughout the process to set up your backups.

Druva, however, is a company oriented more towards medium-enterprise rather than small businesses. Depending on your income, it can be expensive relative to the income of the company.

Durva Phoenix is well suited for the VMware platform and has great restore functionality during disaster recovery. We use a different VM platform so our disaster recovery has a longer timeline if there is a critical failure as we need to get a base OS loaded before we can restore the VM data to it. This is the tradeoff between an expensive VM platform and a near free VM platform.

Druva Phoenix is well suited to file version recovery if a previous data state is required by your employees or customers. Very quick to restore.

DRaaS, tape backup replacements are common use cases for Phoenix.

Do bear in mind that as this is a SaaS, there is a need to right size the internet bandwidth from your DC to Phoenix. The more workloads and the larger the workloads, especially in environment with large amount of changes daily > leads to higher traffic to cloud, thus proper planning of your backup window and internet bandwidth is a key consideration.

The product solves a lot of issues that the competitors lack in. It is user friendly and easy to navigate. The customer service is amazing and they help you manage your dashboard to help you use your credits wisely where you end up saving money in the end. They are the Amazon of cloud backup!

Druva is well suited for smaller environments. It is not for those who have huge servers as the entire process depends upon the proxy pool. it is also dependent upon the amount of proxies configured and one proxy can handle only 3 simultaneous vm's and also if any user snapshot is present , the cbt will be reset and the next backup will be a full backup , heavily depend upon usn journal of physical machines.

Druva works well when you are in a large company and have a fear of computers crashing. Using it has saved a lot of people at my place of employment whenever they run into a blue screen issue or something has been deleted. It has saved all of the work and documentation needed.

Possibly good for a relatively small environment with a large backup window. More is needed in a larger environment. Especially the reporting is very basic, and better insight is needed in performance metrics and potential bottlenecks. Multi-tenancy can probably be improved (though we did not explore this completely during the POC).

Druva Phoenix is a well-suited cloud back-up application that provides a lot of mental security knowing that back-ups are not an issue. Their solution is easy to set-up and use. I would say they are a great solution for a medium-large company that needs a large scale back-up solution. Just make sure to check on your back-ups status every day.

We start using Druva Phonix less than a year ago when we migrated from a competitor and we really like how easy is to use Druva in comparison to the old software. We are a school with 7 sites, 3500 students, and 400 staff members. Our server farm is in all the buildings, so this cloud-based system helps us a lot. We also like the price option where you only pay for you need. if you are a smaller school that is great. Pay as you go!

Great for small shops with relatively simple server and NAS data protection requirements. Good options for scheduling and retention. If speedy disaster recovery RPOs are required, then consider a tool supporting full bare-metal restores.
