Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have been using Druva through out the organization for virtual machine back-up, file server back up and SQL backup. This is the first cloud backup solution I have implemented, it was easy to deploy and feel that my systems had an added level of protection. I recommend it weekly to vendors and other IT professionals in my network.

Pros and Cons

The best part about Druva is that you deploy, which is fairly easy especially with your technical rep being available for the whole process, and then you let the system do your work. If a backup fails I get a report, there is no need to check it every day or even weekly.
The file server backup is great. Searching is easy and the capability to pull back a full folder or individual file makes life a lot easier to support my end users.

One piece of functionality that I would like to see enhanced is the file server back up search to include folder search. File search is available to restore, but folder recovery requires you to drill down into the location of the folder to restore.

Return on Investment

As I earlier stated Druva is a product that does not require much maintenance. I do not have to go in and check my backups often. This has saved myself and the company a lot of time.
Unlike other products that we looked in to, Druva is a credit based system, meaning you pa for what you use and not a high priced license fee where your data is capped or if you do not use its potential you feel like you paid for something you did not fully use.

Usability

Druva is a very easy product to use. Since I do not have to make many changes it can be easy to forget the procedures of adding a new VM to be backed up. Between Druva's support and their comprehensive document system for their customers the task is fairly easy to remind yourself what steps need to be taken.

Support Rating

From customer service, to sales to technical support Druva has the best teams I have ever worked with. They communicate well and quickly no matter what the situation.

Alternatives Considered

Retrospect and Veeam. Both of these products are usable, they will back up similar to Druva. Neither product was as easy to monitor the storage I was using, and that was needed as there was a finite amount of space and a lot of work to scale up if needed. Also the file search and recovery process while each product has the capability, neither are as efficient as what I experience with Druva.

I am not just likely to recommend Druva for backup, I do recommend it often while talking to colleagues or other IT professionals in the field.
