Overall Satisfaction with 8x8 X Series (Formerly Virtual Office)
We were using a product from Fusion which was difficult to use and lacked features, so at the end of that contract we looked into several vendors (Ring Central, Nextiva, Mitel, etc.) and 8x8 had all the features we were looking for and we could set it up ourselves easily. Our users love the built in conferencing which really helped us work when the pandemic hit and users were working from home. The online training and videos our users had access to really sold us too. All in all it's been great for us so far.
- We love the conference calling since many users are working from home.
- The fact that we can reprogram it on the fly without having 8x8 do it is a big plus.
- Being able to take the phones with us using the app on our cell phones is a bonus.
- It does take a some technical skills to setup and maintain the system, but 8x8 is always available to help out.
- Some of the demo/training videos haven't ben updated to match the updated screens.
- We were paying a lot for one shared instance of GoToMeeting. With 8x8 we no longer needed that expense and everyone has their own meeting interface built in.
- There were other products that were less expensive, but we agreed the overall features 8x8 offered were worth the added costs.
- Having 8x8 when the pandemic hit allowed us to keep everything running smoothly. Hard to put a cost on that but it took little effort to switch our users to working from home.
We had Fusion Connect which was sparse at best and hard to program. We needed to step it up and get a system that had more features and was easy for us to program ourselves. 8x8 X Series does all of that for us out of the box. We looked at Ring Central and it seemed like they had a bunch of disjointed apps that they said were always being updated. That scared us away since we didn't want our users to constantly having to relearn the product. Nextiva seemed adequate, but had limitations we felt didn't match up to 8x8's features. In the end we made the right choice going to 8x8.
