Documentation changes always and seems to be inconsistent
Deprecating systems and tools very often
Price is too high depending on the services offered
Minor UX improvements (eg adding names to backups, backup database within the code etc)

Negative: Rise the cost of Drupal hosting and support
Positive: Maintenance and updates was an easy task

You can start using Acquia Cloud in less than an hour (if you know Drupal of course).

Scalability

Acquia Cloud is like a 360 solution for managing a Drupal project. Scaling of the services is the thing it does better.

The customer selected Acquia since it had a better support for the US based laws (eg the PCI compliance).

Yes

Well suited for large scale projects (with a lot of users and sessions) where you don't have the resources or knowledge to support.

Less appropriate for the 90% of the Drupal projects out there.
Also, not suitable for decoupled Drupal projects since you may have problems to host the frontend (usually JS oriented) on the same platform.

Acquia Cloud should be an option only if the a projects needs specific standards to fulfill.
