Usability

It's far easier than any other system I've used, but just like any system, there's a learning curve, and a lot to know and remember. Every Adaptive suite is customized to the organization, so you really need a lot of documentation to avoid issues when there's staff turnover.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We're using it across the entire organization, currently for budgeting, but eventually for forecasting, reporting, etc.

Pros and Cons

There's a lot of flexibility in how you implement the tool.
It saves time on areas like allocations and other re-calculations as things change in your planning process.

After implementation, it can be challenging to understand all of the design elements.
Every once in a while you'll come across a place where you'll say "boy, that doesn't work the way I would have hoped", but Adaptive is always making improvements.

Return on Investment

We now feel comfortable moving to a 12 month rolling forecast, which we wouldn't have been able to do without Adaptive.
Budgeting is much more accurate.
We now spend less time building "what-if" scenarios.

Reporting

This isn't applicable to us yet, but we hope to have this working for us within 12 months.

Role Impact

I have far more time than I did before Adaptive!

Alternatives Considered

Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management

There's no comparison. Adaptive hits a home run in every area. The only advantage I saw with Hyperion is the starting point for personnel planning. They give you a good tool to start with, whereas you have to build from scratch with Adaptive.

Likelihood to Recommend

The more complex the organization, the more the tool's flexibility will be apparent. It really helps you implement best practices, and makes it easy to change things on the fly. You reduce the amount of estimation, and use historical results and calculations to determine various rates.
