Overall Satisfaction with Apple Keynote
As a design firm, we use Keynote to deliver our client deliverable and make internal-facing decks where we present research findings, consumers insights, and present client-facing visual design concepts and prototypes (we use Figma to run through the back end of prototypes). The scope of my particular use case is in slide design and analysis since I'm a strategist.
- Inserting images/videos
- Aligning text boxes symmetrically
- Changing presentation themes (I love black on white)
- Collaboration (really hard to share link with people)
- Shortcuts (there are so few compared to Google Slides)
- Limited font selections
- Image/Video editor
- Honestly can't think of any more
- Positive - more easily able to show client-facing version of concepts & prototypes
- Negative - has made internal collaboration more difficult
- Negative - has reduced depth of detail of presentations to accommodate tool's limitations
Keynote is a better visual aid and generally runs better for us since we use MacBooks (less errors when presenting which really matters in a remote context). It takes more effort to get to a finished product though, since we have to neuter what we present (less slides and detail/insight) and collaboration takes more time because it's harder to access and share decks with everyone. It does have a specific niche in our industry though, so I see why we use it, although I wish we did less.
