Automox is good at patching and I would recommend it if you need to patch lots of devices.
Overall Satisfaction with Automox
We moved from WSUS to Automox to give us better control of patching policies and provide better insight into the status of our devices. We were spending too much time manually addressing devices patching issues and didn't have a clear enough picture of what patches were installed on which devices.
Pros
- Reporting
- Patch schedules.
- Patch policies.
Cons
- Sometimes devices listed in reports aren't links to open that device's page.
- Device tagging can be quite slow to apply.
- It's saved us lots of time by allowing us to automate repetitive tasks.
- It's given us more insight into what vulnerabilities need to be addressed.
- It's allowed us to keep some common 3rd party apps updated.
We found that we had a much better understanding of our device's patch status than before we implemented Automox. It identified issues where devices were not patching appropriately through WSUS and allowed us to better automate our patching policy as well as set up a restart policy to avoid issues caused by logged-on users.
