Overall Satisfaction with BambooHR

Bamboo HR is our HRIS system for our global organization. We store personnel records there, use it to track employee onboarding and off-boarding tasks, PTO accrual, requests and approvals and as our organization directory. For US employees we also use it for benefits tracking.
  • Task lists are very helpful to assign responsibilities to a variety of users and track progress on employee onboarding activities.
  • For a small start up like us, the file storage with customizable controlled user access provided us with an easy solution for employee manuals, forms, performance review, etc.
  • Employees can easily request and approve (where applicable) time off from the mobile app.
  • The interface is very user-friendly and we've had virtually no questions, but when we do the customer service is superb.
  • We'd love to see integration with our accounting system for PTO accruals and payroll.
  • We have employees in locations outside the US so some areas of the system (benefits module for example) are too US specific preventing us from utilizing the full functionality globally.
  • Would love to be able to export the org chart!
  • Savings in resource time. Bamboo HR replaced spreadsheets for all employee related tracking when we were in startup mode.
  • Compliant benefits tracking.
We selected Bamboo HR because the price point was reasonable for a small org, implementation was easy; it's user-friendly even for employees who have no experience with HR and is an excellent "starter" HRIS product. It has all the basic functionality that is required to manage employees efficiently and as we grow and require more functionality we're finding that what we need is already there (for example ACA compliant benefits tracking).
It's very appropriate for small to middle size companies. It also has served us well with employees in multiple geographies/multiple currencies/multiple PTO accrual policies and holiday schedules. The fact that all employees can access the full organization across geographies has been very helpful. I can imagine that it's not as appropriate for large organizations that need a full-scale PEO and the fact that it doesn't have an API integration with major accounting systems will be challenging as we grow.
