Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT

Blackbaud has done an outstanding job simplifying its flagship product, The Raiser's Edge. NXT is intuitive and easy to use, especially after having used the classic program. Like any good CRM it's cloud-based and can be accessed from anywhere and doesn't require installation of additional software or VPN. We use NXT to manage constituent relationships, including their communication preferences, and also use it for Events, gift processing and reporting.
  • the Workcenter is designed with frontline fundraisers in mind
  • Donation forms have QR codes!
  • Event management in NXT is better than in the database (or classic) view
  • The out-of-box dashboard/reports are helpful and insightful, and push to best practice
  • Several modules are still read-only, such as Volunteer Management and Memberships
  • Gift Batching in RE NXT is too simplified, users need more cash management control
  • Would be nice to be able to search for any kind of record, not just constituents
  • Constituent Management
  • Fundraising tools such as Opportunities and Email
  • Reporting
  • Since 2020 we have increased overall dollars raised by over 40%
  • Frontline fundraisers spend considerably less time on administrative tasks
  • Reporting is now democratized
Tags are an especially helpful functional insight. This flags constituents who haven't been contacted in a while, have over due pledges, their birthday is coming up, or is at risk of being lost as a donor. This type of insight provides fundraisers with pointed and actionable steps to take. The workcenter is also a major asset to fundraisers because it puts all of their portfolio, gifts, pledges, opportunities, etc. all in one place. This is game-changing.
The training modules are great -- Blackbaud has had decades at this point to perfect the art of training its clients. The modules are configured in such a way that you can pace yourself with on-demand videos and/or you can attend instructor-led trainings that not only teach one how to use the system but gives you a chance to interact with other users at other organizations. I cannot give this a 10/10 because the platform that is hard to navigate and you cannot monitor whose trainings are still outstanding.
RE NXT is harder to use to than NeonOne - but NeonOne lacks a lot of functionality and is not appropriate for higher education or more sophisticated nonprofits.
RE NXT is easier to use than Luminate. Its Marketing module is not nearly as sophisticated as Luminate but that's OK for us.
Salesforce is not a good solution for nonprofits - it's just not geared toward DONOR management and fundraising.

Do you think Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT's feature set?

Yes

Did Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT again?

Yes

NXT is well suited to almost any nonprofit in any vertical. Blackbaud knows this industry better than any other software vendor or service provider out there. NXT is less customizable than Blackbaud's CRM solution, so it's possible that incredibly specialized and/or behemoth nonprofits who need to track vastly different kinds of information would feel this lack of customization.
