Overall Satisfaction with BlueJeans
My organization has offices across multiple states in the US, with collaborators from other countries. We also have many employees who work remotely from their homes or on travel. BlueJeans is installed in all conference rooms and all our laptops (at least research staff) and is the primary way we have meetings across offices and with external collaborators.
Pros
- Video conferencing
- Allowing different modes of meeting participation, e.g., only for screen sharing, audio-only, and allowing participation through phone or computer. That covers multiple use cases and gives robustness against equipment malfunctioning.
Cons
- Calendar management, e.g., editing an instance of a recurring meeting, is limited to the next instance only, and adding a new participant changes the meeting's title forever.
- The user interface, e.g., it is not possible to see the full meeting's title if its length exceeds the width fo the sidebar.
- Broader recruitment pool, including work from home.
- More convenience in moving employees between offices.
My primary use of BlueJeans that is not supported by others, at least in my institution, is the in conference rooms. But, I prefer zoom's desktop app's interface and direct connection with the exchange calendar (without relying on Outlook). I also like slacks screen marking feature.
