Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches
- Catalyst 2960 X/XR Series
- Catalyst 2960-L Series
- Catalyst 3560-CX Series
These switches are amazing! We have these switches in our bus maintenance yard for years and have a low failure rate. These switches continue to run even when the vents are clogged with oil and dust! Pretty much indestructible, some switches are running in a non air conditioned room and it still provides reliable network connection during California summer days!
- VLAN segmentation is easy to configure.
- Highly durable, and tolerant to dust.
- TAC support will quickly solve your issues.
- Would like to see a second power supply so it can get power from two different sources.
- Hard to find a USB flash drive that will work when loading images for upgrade.
- IOS upgrades are a pain to perform. Upgrades should be an easy process. Would like to perform the upgrade through a web browser.
- Positive ROI since we rarely have to send techs to troubleshoot once it is set up.
- Negative due to the high price of support renewals.
- Positive for how fast the replacement part are delivered. I had a core switch fail on a weekend, and the part was sent in 1 hour and arrived at my office before me!
Have not used the built in automation and analytics. We use a third party software for that.
We use a third party software for management of these switches. The software will create and store backup of the configurations when a change is made. Another software will notify the admins when a switch is offline.
Easier to configure than any other brands of switches, and will have less failures.
