Overall Satisfaction with Cision Communications Cloud

We use Cision to monitor news coverage, distribute press releases, and build analytical reports. It is used by the public relations team within the marketing department, but we monitor all Health System related news.

As a huge Health System, this allows us to pull in all our coverage into one place and keep track of day-to-day media hits.
  • Distribution--able to send things to many media contacts at once
  • Building lists--able to easily add and remove contacts from lists
  • Tracking past activities--easy to reference past activities using the calendar view
  • Monitoring--pull in a lot of irrelevant coverage due to the name of the company easily being confused with similarly named institutions
  • Analytics--could have more features, very basic
  • Back end--a lot of work and tweaks need to be done on the back end in order to fix issues, can be a lot of manual work
  • Cision is unable to connect any media success to direct results as the numbers seem estimated and not fully accurate.
Muck Rack has a better database of contacts and the media profiles seem to be more comprehensive and detailed than Cision's. However, distribution and building lists are more time-consuming on Muck Rack over Cision and the platform takes a longer time to learn than Cision does.

However, Muck Rack is better for working as a team because you can keep track of what each person is doing and can avoid spamming people with releases at the same time.

Cision Communications Cloud is great for distribution. You can easily schedule and send press releases and other materials to many contacts at once and track open and click rates shortly after. It is very user friendly and easy to learn.

Cision is not great for analytics. It offers very basic numbers and info. Numbers seem to be a ballpark range and not completely accurate. It also feels like the numbers change based on who is checking it. My colleague and I will often check the same thing at the same time and sometimes we get different results. Would also be great to be able to create slide decks directly on the platform.
