Overall Satisfaction with Concur Travel and Expense

Concur allows me to upload, organize, and submit expenses in an easy and organized manner. The ability to automatically calculate mileage with my vehicle has been extremely useful. I used to calculate the distance and depreciation manually, but with Concur, I just input the address I'm traveling to, and the calculation is automatic. Super helpful software!
  • Uploading expenses is simple.
  • Manager approval is straightforward.
  • Mileage calculation is automated.
  • Image upload can be difficult on desktop.
  • UI on desktop could be updated.
  • I'm not aware that we've explored alternatives in quite some time, but they have rolled out incremental improvements on a routine basis.
Our company has not explored alternatives to Concur in some time. The software works well, so we've stuck with it.
PeopleSoft and Concur integration has been seamless. Expenses are tagged by the user, logged in the GL, and flow through to payroll when applicable.
Again, I think the automatic mileage calculation has been a game-changer for us. It was such a pain to log previously. Additionally, some apps have integrations with Concur, like SpotHero, that make it easy to log expenses without having to update receipts. Every iteration Concur releases makes material improvements in the software.
Reporting is simple to break down, which allows management to track employee spending when traveling and makes it easy for our risk groups to detect fraud if it occurs.
In my experience, this tool is great for large enterprises and/or companies that have resources to manage a software suite this large. Smaller companies may be better suited for a simpler suite that integrates with payroll automatically.

General functionality is intuitive, though the UI is beginning to look dated. Overall, the usability is high... it is easy to open new expense reports, allocate expenses to the appropriate GL line items and associated RCs. My only complaint is that it takes five+ clicks to upload documents which feels a bit excessive.
  • opening new cases
  • checking the status of opened cases
  • allocating expenses to the appropriate RC
  • Uploading documents and receipts is difficult
  • UI is a bit outdated
Concur has been a time-saving tool for our sales force and for our accounting team. Expenses are automatically logged into the GL under the appropriate RC and GL line, saving the team tremendous time. Similarly, the administrative review is easy with the automatic workflow as expenses are automatically routed to managers for approval.
Concur is extremely scalable across most organizations in my experience. That being said, most applications of Concur are applied to relatively homogenous populations of employees. Logging expenses is logging expenses in most organizations and rarely will bespoke functionality be needed from department to department. When it does (I've never seen a case where it is necessary), Concur would be flexible enough to meet most needs.
Concur integrates without our accounting software, and does so relatively well. I have not seen concur integrated with any other software outside of accounting at my firm. It appears that concur requires a manual update when our chart of accounts is updated, but this is a minor inconvenience. Overall, integrations are minimal, but good when needed.
