Overall Satisfaction with Concur Travel and Expense

Concur Travel and Expense is being used globally across the entire organization. We are leveraging it for all departments and potential expense reporting use cases. From a business use case standpoint, Concur integrates seamlessly with Veeva Network for HCP tracking and eventual Sunshine Act Reporting. Concur also has excellent internal pay solutions for most, but not all, countries.
  • Mobile Expense Reporting
  • Integration with Veeva Network
  • Automatic Payment without integration to AP
  • Additional countries should be supported by Concur Global Pay - not all countries are supported.
  • There is a not an out of the box integration for user account maintenance with common tools like HRIS or MS O365.
  • Single Sign On on Mobile is not as streamlined as it could be - a unique code for each company doesn't create a great user experience.
  • Faster employee reimbursements
  • Faster creation of employee expense reports
  • Better reporting
I have personally administered and been an end user of Expensify and Oracle Cloud Expenses. Oracle provides an excellent integrated user experience with the overall Oracle ERP ecosystem. At the end of the day, Concur was stronger with integrations that are critical for life science and bio-pharma customers, like Veeva Network.
We integrated Concur Travel and Expense with Workday HRIS and Oracle Cloud ERP (Accounts Payable Module). For Workday HRIS, we created, updated, and terminated accounts in Concur based on activity in Workday (ie hire, promote, retire). For Oracle Cloud ERP, we implemented a custom integration to pay expense reports denominated in currencies not supported by Concur Global Pay.
Mobile Expense Reports and the forms of Artificial Intelligence supported for controls such as compliance were very beneficial to our organization. It's worth noting that the Veeva Network integration was one of the critical features that drove our selection process and eventual happiness with both the product and eventual compliance success.
Overall there are many opinion organizationally about Concur Travel and Expense, but I would say the employee experience has been largely positive. As long as the system is implemented with a thoughtful and robust approach to user interaction and is not over-engineered, the implementation can be a great success from an end user standpoint.
Concur Travel and Expense is particularly well suited for organizations in the biotech space that have a dedicated team member focused on Concur setup, maintenance and administration. Concur is a complex enough expense and travel tool that it might struggle to provide the optimal user experience without dedicated administration and support internally.
