Overall Satisfaction with Concur Travel and Expense

We currently use Concur across our entire organization as our expense reporting system.
  • Integration with our corporate card provider.
  • Various platforms available to users (PC, Mobile, etc).
  • Extract files are large and can be hard to understand.
  • Reporting functionality is complicated to use.
  • Site reliability & speed has been an issue.
  • Dealing with customer help desk can be painful.
  • Positive: shorted our expense reporting cycle.
  • Positive: added accountability to our users.
  • Positive: added clarity of expenses for our finance team.
  • Negative: still creates some user confusion.
  • Negatives: any changes requires calls to Concur, cannot be modified internally.
At the time of purchase we used an in-house MS Access based system. Concur allowed us to move to a more stable platform that was fully web-based so users could get to it anytime (even without VPN access). At the time of purchase it was highly recommended by several of our vendor/banking partners.
MS Dynamics 365 - We have built a process to import the SAE file from Concur directly into our system so accounting can post the associated entries.
It has helped us put tighter controls on what expense types users have access to. It also allows us to better understand where in the cycle any given report may be allowing us to prepare better financials.
Being able to capture receipts digitally is a big help vs having to keep paper copies of all of them and submit those copies into Finance with a hard copy of the expense report. Also the direct feed of CC transactions into Concur cuts out the need for manually entry, allow for more accurate reports.
It could go either way, I would not strongly recommend it, nor would I suggest people look elsewhere.
