Overall Satisfaction with Dynatrace

Dynatrace is being used by our whole organization in different capacities. It's being used primarily for operations and production management. We're looking to expand it into our development and QA environments and for pre-production workflows. Primarily we're addressing uptime, stability, and availability questions. One of Dynatrace's critical value propositions for us is end-to-end traceability. We are looking to use it to help understand customer experience and support business intelligence problems.

Pros

  • Automatic instrumentation
  • User enablement

Cons

  • Pricing
  • Mainframe WAS/Liberty
  • Reduction in MTTD
  • Alert management and storm improvement
Dynatrace is a premier tool for hybrid environments. It also happens to be the most expensive. Dynatrace is bad at pricing and customer success. They charge a premium but do offer one of the better solutions on the market.
Dynatrace is often very prescriptive. Rather than understand customer issues and attempt to remediate, they suggest that we shouldn't be doing things the way we're doing them. While this might be helpful in the long-term, this is not a good customer-centered approach.
