Overall Satisfaction with Figma

I use Figma a lot for making designs and prototypes of apps. It’s also good for making simple diagrams from my research. It does an okay job with infographics, but it could be easier. Adding some new tools for making infographics would help a lot, so it’s not so tough to do.
  • Light prototypes only: Figmas marketing will lead you to believe that it is a full prototyping solution but it is far from it in my opinion.
  • Quick interface design and integration before coding
  • Decent development handoffs if and only if you’re using a design system. For bespoke designs your out of luck in my opinion.
  • Full working prototypes like axure provides. In my opinion, when I need to make a serious prototype I ditch figma and go all Axure
  • Graphics in general. Capabilities could be more robust
  • The prototyping toolset is not as robust as I need
  • Shared space for design
  • Links to prototypes
  • Design system authoring
  • From a dev standpoint it enables the design system to be scalable in a way that saves time

  • Speed of design is increased
Figma is a better layout tool than all of the other products I have used. I believe it’s worse at prototyping than Sketch and axure. Also its lack of a design kit from officially from Apple is a ding on the product and a plus for Sketch in my opinion. XD is awful and not worth talking about.

For initial stages of design iteration and prototyping it’s unparalleled. it’s when you have to go beyond that when it really falls down in my opinion. It’s not terrible though.
