Overall Satisfaction with Gumlet

We use Gumlet for video management, hosting and to secure our assets. We embed the product into our websites, but also use it for processing of the videos, including subtitles, optimization for mobile, etc. We needed a solution to be able to embed videos, but more importantly, we were looking for a solution that also included FairPlay compatibilty, as we were publishing potentially protected videos that we did not want to be disseminated.

The integration support isn't quite as robust as Wistia, but Wistia is considerably more expensive. Wistia also doesn't have Fairplay support. Wistia has a robust API for their player, that is highly programmable, but in the end, Gumlet offered enough customization in their embedded player that we didn't have to built a separate publication system. We just embedded their player and we were done!

Gumlet is perfect to self-host your videos and to also secure them and control access. Gumlet supports Fairplay, and It also does automatic subtitling, etc. The performance of the CDN is more than acceptable, although we haven't used Gumlet yet for mass distribution. Our main need was ensuring that our content was protected and not easily copied.

Gumlet also has very flexible embedding, with a customizable player that can be whitelabeled with your brand. It was critical that we achieved brand continuity.

If you have a highly integrated workflow for publishing videos directly from production, it may not fit, as the upload process requires direct uploads after the video is produced, but this is a minor quibble and should be sufficient for a vast majority of workflows.

It's part of our workflow now, and they keep adding features. Plus the support has been phenomenal. Responsive teams mean the product is going to continue to improve and deliver.

Gumlet Support

This is probably the biggest factor for Gumlet. Their support team is fantastic and always professional. Most support inquiries through their chat get answered in minutes.

Yes - The bug in the interface was acknowledged. Although it hasn't been fixed, they offered a workaround.
I was having an issue with their interface not saving a setting in certain browers. The customer support team manually made the change necessary, offering me a workaround in the meantime.
