Overall Satisfaction with Gusto

We use Gusto as our HR platform, including payroll, benefits, expense reimbursement, offer letters, and onboarding. We use Gusto for salaried employees, hourly employees with time tracking, and contractor payments. Overall, Gusto simplifies HR administration and keeps us compliant with taxes. It has helped us scale from initial handful employees to 30+ today.

Pros

  • Payroll
  • Benefits
  • Offer letters

Cons

  • Better customer service
  • More support around state tax registrations
  • More general compliance support
  • Payroll
  • Benefits
  • Compliance
  • Easy to administer benefits
  • Easy to scale offerings (i.e. 401k, HSA)
  • Easy to send offer letters and onboarding materials
Gusto doesn't necessarily have the full power of an ADP or options that Justworks may provide. However, I have found it much easier to use by comparison. It seems to me like a platform created specifically for startups and companies looking for pleasing UX to make sense of difficult HR concepts.

Do you think Gusto delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Gusto's feature set?

Yes

Did Gusto live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Gusto go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Gusto again?

Yes

Gusto has been well-suited to a startup environment. They have made it easy to navigate choosing benefits and their platform is easy to use for both administrators and employees. They integrate well with Quickbooks and make filing W-2s and 1099s easy. It may be less appropriate for bigger companies that may need more sophisticated HR support or better rates on health insurance.
