IBM MQ on Cloud

Overall Satisfaction with IBM MQ

We have some process that handle a lot of records (more than 500K) and this infromation goes through different applications/systems. We use a messaging broker, the IBM MQ, RabbitMQ and ActiveMQ to control the communication process, to make it more efficient, balanced and also to avoid generating unnecessary API calls.
  • Easy implementation
  • User interfaces are simple and clear
  • Speed
  • Nothing I can think of
  • Security
  • System velocity
  • ROI
I have never used support for this product. I remember using IBM support for another product like 2 years ago, the support team was really fast to reply but also with really good technical skills. We had a bug and it was solved within 2 weeks. Comparing these to other support experiences, it's really good
We never expected problems on application errors. The system was always available on production and lower enviroments. I remember a scheduled maintenance process on lower enviroments announced by IBM, but it took like 1 hour and was executed after midnight and the enext day we didn't have issues, so I'm assuming it went well
  • Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS)
The product are really similar, basically it depends on where is your infrastructure and your project goals, but talking about this specific product, if your architecture team makes a good design, IBM MQ should do the work and will provide your systems with the capabilities expected from a messaging queue component

Yes

Are you happy with IBM MQ's feature set?

Yes

Did IBM MQ live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of IBM MQ go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy IBM MQ again?

Yes

IBM MQ is a messaging platform that decouples applications, provides guaranteed delivery, and offers high performance, scalability, security, and flexibility. It can be used to improve IT business processes in a variety of projects. We used it on several scenarios, such as application integration, microservices architecture, and event-driven architecture, this last one was the most useful, because we don't have to have processes checking for changes, we suscribe to the event and everything works smoothly
