Overall Satisfaction with IBM Turbonomic
We use IBM Turbonomic to manage and monitor our cloud resources across our global cloud deployment. It helps us optimize our compute resources and direct more attention where needed. Our business compute requirement is dynamic based on various factors and loads vary based on time of day, events, seasonality etc. This tool helps us analyze and allocate compute efficiently
- Cloud cost optimization
- Ease of integration
- Advanced analytics
- Supports hybrid and multi cloud deployments
- Expensive
- Its complex to configure and setup initially
- Lack of support and documentation
- Automation has helped us combine our traditional support and DevOps teams and helped save 20% in resourcing costs
- Cloud costs have come down over 25% by proactive monitoring of usage using the tool.
- We've been able to better allocate our resources across regions as our business is across the world. We can release compute not in use overnight and borrow from other regions as needed.
IBM Turbonomic supports multi cloud deployments and work well with other IBM cloud/web tools we use within our organization.
While there is an initial learning curve, over long period of time it pays off once the cost benefits are realized from the efficiency gains. Given the initial setup, Its more suited to enterprise deployments vs. a small startup

Would you buy IBM Turbonomic again?
Yes
Yes, we've been able to allocate our resources better to develop applications than to manage infrastructure. As with any AI/ML project, we conduct several experiments and build models which have to be back tested against large datasets. Managing infrastructure took over 50% of the projects time. Using this tool, we've been able to reduce the costs and reduce that time considerably. Moreover, we can thus run multiple experiments and it helps us with Model Governance prior to going into production
We've combined our application and operations team as one DevOps team and it has helped us reduce costs, specially in high cost locations. We are spending less time managing infrastructure and have been able to experiment better specially during initial data modelling and engineering phase where our compute needs are the highest.
We've reduced our cloud spend by over 25% and review our costs monthly at a senior level. We've been able to setup rules to automate the release or underutilized resources and build management reports to review usage.
