Overall Satisfaction with Jira Work Management (Jira Core)

We used this for working on project plans and sprint backlogs to forecast future semi-monthly releases. My team and I would create projects and tasks inside of Jira and estimate the story points to ensure we had a full workload while not overpromising anything. Overall, as a manager, I was able to view reports and metrics to understand how much we had in the hopper, while my team used it to collaborate and update the team on task status.

Pros

  • Planning reports.
  • Collaboration of projects and sub-tasks.
  • Completion of tasks in a dependent flow.

Cons

  • More clarification on where to find useful tools and resources for new users.
  • Breakdown of Projects, Tasks, Sub-tasks, bugs is hard to follow and cannot be changed once created.
  • The ability to customize the dashboard/home page to fit the needs of individuals could use some work.
  • Connectivity to other apps (Slack, Teams, Salesforce, Teamwork, Airtable).
  • Visualization of reports and key metrics for sprint planning and backlog.
  • Ease of use for communication and collaboration between individual contributors.
  • Increased productivity for individual contributors.
  • Decreased risk of forgetting sub-task and related tasks.
  • Better communication between siloed teams and individuals.
Jira provides better reporting and task management than Teamwork. Teamwork was better from a managerial perspective to get updates from team members on a task, but the tracking and planning were not as robust. Overall, Jira was more robust and offered better granularity, but Teamwork was more straightforward and easy to use from an engagement perspective.

Great for agile teams of 4 or more that need to collaborate and communicate on projects, tasks, and bugs. This site works well for managers and individual contributors to gain exposure to details and updates without having to track manually and reach out to partners on projects to get details from them. You can @ mention teammates, mark items as complete, and add sub-tasks. Another great scenario is to utilize this in addition to collaboration platforms, like Teams and Slack. You can connect Jira here and create and add tasks.
