Our KnowBe4 instance is tied to our Active Directory instance and performs a synchronization 4 times per day.
It makes it extremely easy using AD groups and smart groups to set up automated phishing campaigns.

KnowBe4 provides a security training and phishing solution for our users that is integrated into our environment. It has helped us to improve user awareness in these areas. We also utilize this system to provide security awareness training for new employees as part of their onboarding to the company. The synchronization between our environments for provisioning new users into the system and incorporating them into monthly phishing campaigns is as close to set it and forget it as I have seen.
Pros
- Very good quality security training.
- Scheduling phishing campaigns and training for users that don't pass the training is very easy.
- Training modules are available in SCORM compliant format that allows you to export training into a 3rd party LMS system as needed.
Cons
- For setup of phishing campaigns it can be confusing the first few times, be sure to ask for help from the KnowBe4 staff.
- I would like to see better reporting to break out the different months training results for re-occurring phishing campaigns.
- Since the system is tied to our Active Directory instance, the number of employees that the email was sent to and those that failed the phishing test changes, affecting statistics, if the employee leaves the organization. This means that statistics can change even months after the phishing campaign has closed.
- This solution has helped to raise security awareness with a minimal cost impact to the organization.
- The solution definitely showed positive results for our organization over the first year of use.
- The KnowBe4 support staff was very helpful in getting the phishing campaigns setup and verified.
Several products were evaluated using a weighted criteria matrix to determine which product to purchase.

Several company employees have made positive comments to me about the quality of the security training.
They have even asked how they can get this training to share with their family members.

The Phish Rating for the campaigns is very easy and shows trends against an industry baseline. This is very helpful. Utilizing reoccurring phishing campaigns make it a little more difficult to track statistics per monthly campaign. I hope that improvements can be made in this area. Being able to track phishing ratings over time is important to our company. The Phish alert button was phenomenal for our company allowing users a single method to report "bad/unwanted" emails via a single easy to use method.
